Curriculum vitae

Grégory PAUL is a postdoctoral fellow at the MOSAIC group since February 2008.

G. Paul is a French citizen and was born in 1979 in Marseille, France. During 1997-2000 he prepared the competitive examination to the “Grandes Ecoles” at Lycée Thiers (Marseille), majoring in biology. In 2000 he entered the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS). He obtained a license in Cell Biology and Physiology, with a second year in the ecology/evolution Master program of the University Paris VI.

In 2003, Dr. Paul started his PhD studies in interdisciplinary life sciences at TaMaRa’s lab at the Necker Institute (Paris) (with a fellowship by the University Paris VI) under the direction of Prof. Francois Taddei. His doctoral research focused on the physiological origin and the evolutionary consequences of residual phenotypic variability in homogenous genetic backgrounds and constant environment. He combined experimental work with statistical modeling of cell lineages and multilevel dynamic modeling (from the molecular scale to the evolutionary dynamics). His main application was in the area of aging theories, particularly in understanding experimental results on the aging of Escherichia coli.

Gregory Paul was also involved in forming the new Master Program "Interdisciplinary Approaches to Life Science", and he held teaching commitments in the Biology curriculum of the University Paris VI and at the mathematical department of ENS.

In our group, Gregory Paul is working on bio-medical image processing, in particular segmentation and tracking for fluorescence microscopy, and on sensitivity analysis methods.
